Why Chiropractic Care Is So Important

At the Functional Neurology Chiropractic Center, we’re dedicated to helping people across Orlando – and around the world – understand the benefits that a chiropractic care center can bring to a person’s day-to-day life.  There has been a lot of interest in chiropractic in recent years, and we’re glad for it.  It gives us the opportunity to share the techniques we’ve learned and help change lives!

One question we hear a lot is “Why is chiropractic so concerned with the back?”  (Or the less-polite version, “Aren’t you guys just giving backrubs?”)  This is actually a very important point!  Back and spine issues are truly at the heart of treatment at a chiropractic care center, and there’s plenty of good reason for it.

The Importance of a Healthy Back in Chiropractic Care

Even though it seems like most people live quiet, inactive lives, the truth is that we are constantly beating up our bodies. It might seem counter-intuitive, but in many ways, the modern sedentary lifestyle is harder on the body -and particularly harder on the back- than when we were roaming hunter-gatherers.   The human body simply wasn’t meantto sit in front of a desk for most of a day – that’s not what we evolved to do, and using our bodies in such an “unnatural” way puts a strain on them.

In many ways, your back is the crossroads of your body.  The various muscle groups are involved in just about everything you do.  Even when you’re sitting down, your back is involved and under pressure.

Plus, there’s the critical importance of the spine and the spinal cord.  The spinal cord is what carries messages to and from the brain and every other part of the body.  Problems with the spine won’t just inhibit movement – they’re potentially interfering with your entire neurological system.

This is why a chiropractic care center puts so much emphasis on the back.  A healthy back leads to a healthy life.  In turn, chiropractic care could be compared to a “tune-up” for a car.  Those who come in for periodic adjustments, and who follow their chiropractor’s advice for protecting and strengthening their back, are going to be much less prone to bodily injury.

Or, if an injury does happen, they’ll be able to overcome it more quickly.
